BERLIN BERGE | hidden heights
Filmed: April 20, 2018
Location: 3 Peaks & a Floating University, Görlitzer Park, Volkspark Hasenheide, Victoria Park
ABOUT THE VIDEO
In April of 2018, Park Project Berlin participated in the group exhibition, ZWISCHEN DEN GIPFELN | Between the Peaks, curated by Spunk Seipel and presented by PremArts and Zwitschermaschine galleries.
This hike was part of the exhibition, put on by the team of urban planners, Jan Lindenberg and Niklas Fanelse who have been leading hikes on the peaks of Berlin since 2014, under the title of Berliner Berge.
Our walk of three peaks in Kreuzberg started from the PremArts Gallery, a block away from Görlitzer Park. From there we headed down the Landwehr Kanal towards Volkspark Hasenheide and then passed the Floating University on the way to the peak at Victoria Park.
Floating University was a temporary inner-city laboratory collective built on a rainwater retention basin located north of the Tempelhof airport. Check out information on the project and archives of their work on their website, floatinguniversity.org/en/.
It is definitely worth exploring the peaks of Berlin, many of which were built from rubble from buildings that were bombed during the Second World War.
